BYU Alumni Association Conducts ‘Cougs Care’ Service Project at Valero Alamo Bowl Tailgate Party – BYU Athletics – Official Athletics Website

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The BYU Alumni Association will host a “Cougs Care” service project at the Valero Alamo Bowl Tailgate Party on Saturday, Dec. 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. The BYU Tailgate Party will be held at Civic Park in Hemisfair Park in San Antonio.

The Cougs Care tradition began in 2019 when BYU played Tennessee in Knoxville. The BYU Alumni Association partnered with Knox Area Rescue Ministries to conduct a coat and food drive. Since then, the Alumni Association has worked closely with the home team’s Alumni Association or a local charity to collect items such as food, books, art supplies, toys, sports equipment, and other items to support a charity in the home team’s community.

For the Valero Alamo Bowl Tailgate Party, fans of both schools are invited to bring socks, hats, pants, winter gloves and toiletries to the tailgate. Donations support Haven for Hope, an inclusive campus in San Antonio that addresses the causes of homelessness by offering programs tailored to the needs of the individual.

Additionally, for those unable to travel to San Antonio, an Amazon Wish List account has been created for fans to purchase supplies to be shipped directly to Haven for Hope.
