Caleb Williams had a brutally honest assessment of the Bears’ blowout loss to the 49ers

Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears had a disastrous start to the post-Matt Eberflus era, suffering a crushing 38-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. After the game, Williams didn’t mince his words when assessing the team’s performance.

“We got a kick in the ass today. There’s no way around it,” Williams said. “I think at one point they had a little over 240 and we had four total yards. Regardless of how we feel, regardless of all that, we did it.”

Chicago’s offense failed to get anything going in the first half. The team entered halftime with four yards of offense and an average of 0.2 yards per play. Meanwhile, San Francisco had no trouble making big plays with the ball and took a 24-0 halftime lead.

Things went a little better in the second half, but the game was already out of reach at that point. Williams finished the afternoon with 134 yards and two touchdowns after completing 17 of 23 passes without throwing an interception. On the ground, the team averaged 3.2 yards per carry, and a 10-yard rush by Williams represented the longest rush of the game.

It was anything but an encouraging performance from the Bears, who fell to the NFC North’s worst 4-9 loss of the season, their seventh straight loss.

Williams and Co. will look to prevail in a rivalry matchup against the Minnesota Vikings next week Monday Night Football.
