Caleb Williams: I think it will be good for me to get through this season

One of the few bright spots in a dismal Bears season was snuffed out Thursday night.

Quarterback Caleb Williams threw an interception in the 6-3 loss to the Seahawks, ending his rookie record of 353 straight pass attempts without being intercepted. Avoiding interceptions was about the only thing the Bears’ offense has done well this season, and the rest of Thursday night was much the same.

Williams was sacked seven times for a total of 67 sacks this season, and he completed 16 of 28 for 122 yards while leading the Bears to seven punts on the night. Williams said he “didn’t help put the team in a good position to win,” and the Bears have now lost 10 straight games after a 4-2 start, so finding a positive turnaround seems difficult. However, after the game, Williams did his best to do so.

“Frustrating, annoyed, but coachable, I would say,” Williams said in a Seahawks transcript. “I definitely think this will be good for me. I’m excited for this final game and then excited for the future.”

Once Week 18 is over, the Bears will embark on a head coaching search, and that prospect is all anyone interested in the Bears can hope for after a brutal 2024 in Chicago.
