Caleb Williams’ reaction to the brutal hit perfectly sums up the Bears’ lack of protection

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams’ tough rookie season continued Monday night as the Bears lost to the Minnesota Vikings. Williams and the Bears’ offense struggled as the line struggled to protect the number one pick.

During the fourth quarter, Williams was stumbling around before throwing a ball deep downfield when he was hit hard by Vikings linebacker Jihad Ward. Williams fell to the grass and lay on his back for a moment. When he finally got up, he went to the bench, where he didn’t seem to feel very comfortable.

Troy Aikman compared Williams’ rookie season to his own, when he went 0-11. From experience, he seemed concerned that the Bears might break Williams.

“If you mention that we watched him on the sidelines, you know he was grimacing and in tremendous pain. And when I watch him, you know you can tell he’s a defeated guy. I mentioned he didn’t do that.” “He’s experienced something like that at some point in his career and you worry about a rookie quarterback losing confidence.”

Williams’ body language seemed to confirm everything Aikman had to say.

Only three games left.
