“Call Her Daddy” host Alex Cooper introduces Drink Unwell Hydration

“Call Her Daddy” podcast host Alex Cooper wants to dive into the drinking trend.

On Wednesday, the podcaster and entrepreneur will debut the Unwell Hydration functional beverage line, priced at $2.49 per bottle and $15 per eight-pack, available exclusively at Target stores nationwide and on Target starting January 1. com will be available. More retailers will follow throughout the year. Unwell Hydration is available in three flavors – Strawberry, Mango Citrus and Orange Hibiscus – and each bottle contains 700 mg of electrolytes for hydration, as well as B vitamins and green coffee extract for a light energy boost.

Cooper is best known for her interview podcast “Call Her Daddy,” which features guests such as Miley Cyrus, Vice President Kamala Harris and Jane Fonda. “Unwell Hydration” is the latest in a string of successes for the 30-year-old, who has sold out multiple tours and signed a $125 million, multi-year deal with SiriusXM in August.

Unwell Hydration, an extension of her media platform Unwell, was inspired by Cooper’s experiences as a child.

“Growing up as a competitive athlete and playing Division 1 soccer, my whole life revolved around hydration,” Cooper said on a Zoom call earlier this week, dressed in Unwell sweatshirts. “Then I got to college… (and) it was like, ‘Oh my God, I have a hangover.'”

Even though he’s no longer a competitive athlete, hydration is still a top priority for Cooper, whether it’s for a hangover or general well-being.

“The older you get, the more you realize you want to take care of yourself,” she said. “If you think about feeling unwell, it’s somehow related to a lack of hydration.”

Although hydration has become an important category in wellness and Cooper herself receives sponsorship from some of the top brands on her podcast, Unwell Hydration was designed specifically for her and her followers. According to Cooper, there was a gap in the market for a brand specifically aimed at women.

“The entire market is geared toward men,” she said.

While athletic performance and hangover cures were two of the main reasons for using Unwell Hydration, Cooper also began suffering from migraines in her 20s and has since found this product to be non-triggering.

“When I have a migraine in the morning, I don’t want to drink coffee because I don’t want that much caffeine, but I want enough,” she said. “We have a tiny amount of caffeine, almost the equivalent of tea rather than coffee, which was huge for me. Some days I don’t want to feel nervous and have so much coffee in my body, but you need that extra focus (and) boost. This is where the perfect blend of Unwell Hydration was created.”

Cooper’s fan base, known as the “Daddy Gang,” is eagerly waiting to find out what Unwell Hydration is. Cooper teased the Instagram account under the pseudonym @alexssupersecretproject553968, which already has 118,000 followers and counting who are guessing what product it could be.

“It’s everywhere,” she said of her followers’ guesses. “Some people say, ‘It’s a reality show.’ Some people say, ‘It’s definitely a drink.'”

Although the product won’t be available to consumers for another month, Cooper plans to maintain that exposure by focusing on upcoming holidays and introducing the drink to her 3.2 million Instagram followers.

“You’ll see me on social media throwing parties and drinking it, and of course I’ll drink it with a mixed cocktail. I’ll drink it in the morning, maybe when I have a little hangover,” she said. “Then January 1st comes along and we’re trying to get our lives together, and what better way than… going to a Target and buying some hydration for discomfort?”

Cooper’s goal was to ensure that Unwell Hydration has an impact and can be the right drink at any time, whether mixed with tequila or used as a pre-workout drink.

“That felt very symbolic of the brand to me,” she said. “It’s like, ‘In December we can be crazy, but in January we’re all healthy and well.’ (Then) we’ll probably degenerate again, but it’s okay, we have unwell hydration.’”

Although Call Her Daddy has been sponsored by many major brands, Cooper is ready to take the step on his own, even though the process hasn’t been without stress.

“I feel like I haven’t slept in a year,” she said. “As a founder, I was heavily involved in every step of the process, from the development to the launch of this brand, from selecting the different flavors to designing the branding and packaging, to developing the campaign concepts and the social media strategy to match Marketing strategy that fits this.”

With new celebrity brands popping up every day, Cooper knew this level of involvement was crucial when developing the product. At the same time, Unwell Hydration is the newest arm of Cooper’s media network, which was founded in 2023 and has signed talents such as Alix Earle and Madeline Argy.

“I’m not someone who just releases one product,” she said. “This is the most authentic thing I’ve done since I started with ‘Call Her Daddy’ and Unwell. This is an extension of Unwell.”

With this in mind, Unwell is in expansion mode.

“When I think about 2025, a big goal for me is to continue to expand and build out all the intellectual property that we have in the company,” Cooper said. “The core of my work and the reason I love my work is connecting with people. Whatever I do will, in some way, fuel this community.”

While Cooper remained tight-lipped on the details of Unwell, she said, “All I know is that I’m putting my foot down. It doesn’t stop.”
