Carlos Mendoza’s son may have revealed the Mets’ 0 million offer for Juan Soto

It could be true, and the recent Juan Soto rumor definitely had some consequences.

A Twitter post from @omzy__ linked TikTok comments claiming that the Mets had made Soto a 15-year, $700 million offer for an account apparently run by one of the sons of Mets manager Carlos Mendoza.

In response to a video from Bleacher Report showing Soto’s price tags for the various teams vying for his services, one user – Brady – commented: “Soto to the Sox????”

The response from the account said to belong to Mendoza’s son read: “Mets bid $700 over 15, so no.”

After another commenter questioned this report, he replied: “Brother, do you know who Inam (sic) is?”

The report, which purported to belong to the manager’s son, included two videos: one of Mendoza’s two sons training with Francisco Lindor at spring training and another with the caption “Good speech from my dad?” written over it as the Mets celebrated their playoff berth .

As the post gained popularity on Reddit and other platforms, the TikTok account was deleted Friday morning.

The social media drama comes as Soto is expected to make a decision in the coming days when the Winter Meetings begin Monday in Dallas.

The Mets, Yankees, Blue Jays, Red Sox and Dodgers are all in the running for the 26-year-old outfielder.

The Post has reported that Soto’s offers are expected to exceed $600 million and Mets owner Steve Cohen – the richest owner in baseball – has made no secret of his willingness to spend.

However, there have been no concrete reports of the offers since Soto met with all five teams after the season.

“When you go through those things, he just has a lot of information to process,” Soto’s agent Scott Boras said at Blake Snell’s introductory press conference with the Dodgers on Tuesday.

“We had meetings with a number of franchises. He started eliminating teams and getting things done, and so he’s – Juan is a very methodical thinker. So we’ll see. But I don’t think anything is imminent in the near future.”

Soto played for the Yankees last season and hit 41 home runs to lead the franchise to the World Series for the first time since 2009.

The Yankees lost to the Dodgers in five games.
