Cecilia completes the Cinderella story and beats Franklinton for the DII Select title

NEW ORLEANS – For the second time in program history, the Cecilia Bulldogs (12-3) are state champions. CHS climbed to the summit Friday night with a 35-32 win over the Franklinton Demons (12-2) in the Division II non-select championship.

Even though CHS was a massive underdog – at least according to the seedings – the game was a closely contested affair for the most part. FHS led by one point after the first quarter, but CHS fought back to take a five-point lead at halftime. The defense tightened up as the third quarter progressed, but the Demons still managed to take the lead early in the fourth quarter.

But two Franklinton turnovers and a tip-drill touchdown changed the momentum with barely a minute left, allowing Cecilia to pull off one of the greatest Cinderella runs in recent Prep Classic history.
