A year after advancing to the College Football Playoff, Alabama football was excluded from the newly formed 12-team CFP.

The Crimson Tide entered selection in the CFP bubble on Sunday and were listed as one of the two “top teams” in Sunday’s final CFP rankings.

Securing 11th place ahead of Alabama was SMU, which was upset by Clemson in the ACC championship game on Saturday.
