Charlie Woods says he’s “broke” after Tiger says he’s buying drinks after Ace

Charlie Woods says he’s “broke” after Tiger says he’s buying drinks after Ace

Charlie Woods, the 15-year-old son of Tiger Woods, made his first hole-in-one in the final round of the PNC Championship on Sunday, perhaps bucking the tradition that usually follows making an ace.

Charlie’s first career hole-in-one came on the 178-yard par-3 hole. He had no idea his ball actually fell into the hole, but after a loud cheer from fans around the green, he celebrated accordingly with his father, who gave him a big hug in what will be an unforgettable moment.

After letting his son enjoy the moment on the green, Tiger told Charlie that he now owed everyone a round of drinks. This is standard protocol when making a hole-in-one. At least you owe your playing partners a round, but the younger Woods was quick on his feet and had the perfect answer for his old man.

“They’re buying for everyone out here,” Tiger said.

“I’m not buying,” Charlie replied. “I’m broke.”

“I’m safe, buddy,” Tiger said with a smile.

It goes without saying that Charlie is definitely not broke. Tiger made $121 million on the golf course alone, but then again, that’s his money, not his son’s.

While it was a memorable day for the Woods family — Tiger’s daughter Sam also caddied for the couple on Sunday — it didn’t end perfectly.

Team Woods shot a 57 on Sunday to secure a spot in a sudden-death playoff against Bernhard Langer and his son Jason, but ultimately lost on the first extra hole when the German legend sank the decisive putt.

The 67-year-old Langer has now won the PNC Championship for a record-breaking sixth time in his career.

Charlie and Tiger placed second behind John Daly and his son John Daly II in 2021 and tied for fifth place at the 2023 event.
