Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce breaks another Tony Gonzalez record on Sunday | KC Star

In the third quarter of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Sunday Night Football game against the Chargers, Kelce caught a 7-yard pass from Patrick Mahomes, who carried the ball to the LA 47-yard line.

The Chiefs noted that this pushed Kelce’s career total yards to over 12,000. Kelce played his 172nd career game and reached the record-setting milestone yardage. The old NFL mark was held by former Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez, who made it in 210 games.

Kelce, who is in his 12th season, has already broken two Gonzalez’ Chiefs records: pass receptions and receiving yards. Gonzalez and Kelce are tied for the most touchdown catches in Chiefs history (76).

NFL fans believe Chiefs games are ‘rigged’ | The spun

The Chiefs improved their season record to 12-1 with the win despite playing one close game after another.

NFL fans are fed up.

“Bosses are so manipulated it’s hard to watch…” “It’s mathematically impossible to have as much ‘luck’ as they get,” one fan wrote.

“Yes, it is painfully obvious that the NFL is rigged. They want the Chiefs to score three goals and they want the Taylor Swift fans to stay so they can keep making so much money,” one fan added.

“I’m officially done with football. “The Chiefs are the most deceptive 12-1 team I have ever seen in my life,” one fan added.

“No matter how hard you try, no one can convince me that the NFL isn’t rigged in some way. There is no way a team can win on the last play of the game as often as the KC Chiefs. NO F’N way. It’s basically every week!” one fan added.

Here’s how the Chiefs and Bills’ chances of becoming the AFC’s top seed changed on Sunday | KC Star

Entering the weekend, the Chiefs’ chances of becoming the No. 1 seed in the AFC were at 63%, according to the Playoff Status website. The Bills’ chance was 32%, while the Steelers’ chance was 5%. The Chiefs’ chances increased Sunday afternoon when the Bills (10-3) lost a wild game at SoFi Stadium. The Rams’ 44-42 victory over the Bills increased the Chiefs’ chances of becoming the top seed to 81% and the Steelers’ chances to 7%. Buffalo’s chances fell to 12% at that point.

Pittsburgh defeated the Browns 27-17 on Sunday. A few hours later, things were even better for the Chiefs. After the Chiefs’ win on Sunday night, they now have an 87% chance of becoming the top seed in the AFC playoffs. Cris Collinsworth faces backlash during Chiefs-Chargers game | Athlon sport

Fans immediately rushed to social media to complain about how Collinsworth calls plays when the Chiefs are involved — and his love for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

“I wonder if Chris Collinsworth will be overly impressed with anything Patrick Mahomes does tonight?” one person asked before the game even started.

A quick search on social media shows that fans aren’t too happy with Collinsworth’s broadcasting qualities on Sunday night.

“Collinsworth needs to be banned from referring to nationally televised games as a man,” one fan said.

“Cris Collinsworth is as pro-KC as Gary Danielson was anti-Oregon in the Big 10 Championship. “Neither of them should be on either team’s broadcasts,” suggested another.

Niners still plan to sign QB Brock Purdy to long-term contract extension in 2025 offseason | NFL.com

By the end of the 2023 season, there was no doubt that Purdy would be the long-term solution at QB in SF; He finished fourth in MVP voting after leading the league in passer rating and yards per attempt. But a starry 2024 season has cast some doubt on a sure thing.

Purdy saw a decline in his completion and touchdown percentages in 2024 (69.4 to 65.7 and 7.0 to 4.0, respectively). With a number of star players missing significant time, most notably Christian McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk and Trent Williams, Purdy was forced to rely on less reliable options and play behind a weaker offensive line. The Pro Bowl QB, who suffered a torn ACL in his elbow in the 2022 NFC title game, has also missed a game this season with a shoulder injury.

Eagles not ‘on the same page’ as passing attack woes | ESPN

After Sunday’s narrow win against the Carolina Panthers, the Eagles’ members became frustrated with a passing attack that had yet to get going.

The Eagles have won nine straight games and improved to 11-2. The ground game, led by MVP candidate Saquon Barkley, continues to hum. The defense has played above expectations all season.

An aerial attack that featured several top players, including receivers AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, continued to struggle Sunday as quarterback Jalen Hurts rushed for 108 yards on 21 pass attempts.

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O’Connell left Sunday’s 28-13 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a cart with a blowout to his left leg after being injured on a late hit that surprisingly didn’t result in a flag pulled.

The injury occurred late in the third quarter when the Bucs had a 14-10 lead. The game was O’Connell’s second game as he missed four games with a broken thumb on his throwing hand.

Backup Desmond Ridder became quarterback and completed 12 of 18 passes for 101 yards.

The injury was caused by a late blow to the back of Bucs defensive end Calijah Kancey. O’Connell struggled on a pass play and threw the ball as it neared the sideline. Two steps after getting rid of the ball, Kancey hit him in the back.

Xavier Worthy is getting familiar with the Chiefs offense

Wide receiver Xavier Worthy has experienced a lot of ups and downs in his first season with FC Kansas City Chiefs. Now entering Week 14 of his NFL career, the rookie says he’s starting to feel more comfortable on offense under quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

“You throw to so many different receivers – and then this new guy comes along, so you have to build chemistry,” Worthy told reporters about the situation with his quarterback. “I feel like we can make it now (after) Week 13. Now we’re just getting the chemistry together – and that’s good.”

The Chiefs made things relatively easy for Worthy in his debut season. The majority of his production comes via deep passes or jet sweeps, a role designed to take advantage of his world-class speed. In that role, Worthy registered 33 receptions for 407 yards and four touchdowns. The speedy Worthy is learning from Kansas City veterans like JuJu Smith-Schuster and DeAndre Hopkins and realizing the game is slowing down.
