CJ Stroud: It depends on how we react

If the last few days were any measure of how the Texans are performing compared to the AFC’s top teams, the results showed they are not in the same class.

After a 27-19 loss to the Chiefs last Saturday, they were humiliated at home by the Ravens on Christmas Day. Their offense failed to score points and their defense was no match for Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry in a 31-2 loss that ended with quarterback CJ Stroud watching Davis Mills make poor timed shots against Ravens backups.

The Texans have done enough to sweep the AFC South in their first 14 games, so they know they’ll host a playoff game in the Wild Card round, and Stroud said Wednesday that’s what the team is aiming for now arrives to focus on what they can do to rebuild after the disaster against the Ravens.

“It’s about how you reactsaid Stroud. “You’ve hit rock bottom. The only way is up. We still have a lot of hope. I need to finish right against Tennessee this year. Hopefully we’ll be in full swing by then when the playoffs come around.”

Head coach DeMeco Ryans said Wednesday’s performance is “not what we represent” and he will be tasked with finding a way to ensure the Texans show that on the field before one at the start of their offseason suffer further defeat.
