Claire McCaskill complains that Hunter Biden’s pardon gives Republicans ‘ammunition’: ‘I just hate it’

Former Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill on Monday lamented the “ammunition” that President Biden’s decision to pardon his son Hunter will give the Trump world.

“When I saw that pardon last night, I kind of wished I wasn’t on TV today. Although if I were on television, I would certainly be happy to be on television with you,” McCaskill said to Nicolle Wallace on MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House.”

“Here’s the thing,” she added. “Do I understand Joe Biden’s pardon? Yes, completely. I understand. It’s completely understandable. But people from both sides out there just got some really powerful ammunition. And that’s why I hate it.”

She added that she doesn’t “blame” Biden for what he did, calling him a “wonderful man” who “loves his family more than anything.” Still, she regretted that he had repeatedly insisted that he would not pardon his son.

LIBERAL MSNBC EMPLOYEE SPEECHED ABOUT HUNTER BIDEN DEFEAT: ‘I NEED TO PROCESS IT…I’M SORRY’

She said: “If he keeps saying he wouldn’t do that and then does it, it allows him to overcome the mountain of lies and scandal – I mean, the endless amount of terrible corruption and lack of integrity that plagues the world “Trump – it kind of allows them to say, ‘Well, look, he’s exactly the same, Joe Biden is no different.'”

“Yes, Joe Biden is different from Donald Trump. He’s not the same,” McCaskill said. “I just wish Biden had said all along, ‘I’m going to pardon my son because this is a political persecution.’ The fact that he said he wouldn’t do it and now he’s done it, I just hate it.

Biden announced Sunday evening that he had pardoned his son, claiming the prosecution against Hunter was unfair.

“Today I signed a pardon for my son Hunter,” Biden said in a statement. “From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere in the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I have kept my word, even as I watched my son be selectively and unfairly prosecuted became.”

The announcement came after White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre repeatedly insisted in recent years that he would accept the outcome of Hunter’s federal trials.

Other Democrats and liberal media figures also criticized Biden’s decision, even as they defended the president.

“For those of us who have been out there for a few years screaming about what a unique threat Donald Trump is, to Joe Biden doing something like this: No one is above the law, we were screaming,” the former said Congressman Joe Walsh said on MSNBC Sunday night.

He added: “Donald Trump lies every time he opens his mouth, we screamed. Joe Biden has repeatedly lied about this. The politicization of the justice system, Donald Trump and his people screamed. That’s exactly what Biden said here.” “
