Code Red weather day Saturday

Code Red weather day Saturday

It was an active end to the work week with scattered showers and storms as well as a few tornado warnings.

Our Saturday will start out mostly calm, but another incoming storm system will bring the potential for another round of severe storms Saturday afternoon into Saturday night. That’s why our Saturday will be a Code Red Weather Day. This means that the weather can have an influence. So you want to make sure you stay on top of things.

The severe window begins in the afternoon with the possibility of isolated storms. However, the main window will extend from the second half of the afternoon into Saturday night as the system driving the storms begins to move. Severe weather of all types is possible, meaning storms can produce damaging winds, hail and tornadoes. Heavy rain and frequent lightning are also likely. Outside of storms, skies will be mostly cloudy, with highs in the low to mid 70s.

All storms will clear by daybreak on Sunday. Temperatures will drop slightly, but not significantly. Sunday afternoon will bring a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the 70s. Monday will then start in the 40s and end with highs in the 70s.

Our next cold front should move through soon on New Year’s Eve. However, the chances of us seeing moisture on this front are slim, meaning celebrations are looking good as 2025 begins. At Moon Pie Drop we will likely see temperatures around 50°C with partly cloudy skies!

Temperatures will be seasonal at the start of 2025, but temperatures will trend even cooler towards the end of the week and into next weekend! Stay tuned!

Flow risk will be HIGH through the weekend.
