College basketball fans are breaking the silence and storming the court as part of a unique Christmas tradition

It’s a tradition like no other.

It has been since 1997 Taylor University Trojans launched an official Christmas celebration that became known as “Silent Night.”

The tradition meant to celebrate that Holiday time and at the end of the semester, it’s a usually sold-out basketball game where fans don costumes and remain completely silent until Taylor scores his 10th point of the game.

The fans then break the silence by storming the pitch in the Geisler Arena.

The annual game took place on Friday, this time against Moody Bible Institute. And the fans didn’t have to stay silent for too long.

Just 90 seconds into the game, junior Nate Paarlberg broke free on the court and sank the ball for the Trojans’ 10th point. Fans stormed the pitch We celebrate together and, in order to avoid a technical problem, there is always a media break.

The traditions continued in the final minute of the game as the crowd, arm in arm, began singing “Silent Night.”

Taylor walked away with a score of 107-59, improving to 26-1 all-time in Silent Night games.

According to the school’s website, Taylor is an “interdenominational evangelical liberal arts university” in Upland, Indiana.
