Colts’ path to playoffs: Miami QB Tua Tagovailoa is questionable in Week 17

If the Indianapolis Colts want to make the playoffs, the Miami Dolphins may need to give them some help. However, it looks like the Dolphins will be without quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in their Week 17 game.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Tagovailoa is dealing with a hip injury and has been downgraded to doubtful for the team’s game on Sunday in Cleveland.

Schefter added that Tagovailoa is still pushing to play, but if he can’t, Tyler Huntley will get the start.

One path the Colts have to get into the playoffs is obviously by winning their last two games while the Denver Broncos lose their last two games, and the third part of that equation is that either Miami or Cincinnati win.

The reason the Colts needed extra help from the Dolphins or Bengals is because it creates a three-way tie and negates the head-to-head tiebreaker the Broncos hold against Indianapolis. Instead, the tiebreaker between three teams would be the best conference record the Colts hold.

Huntley has made three starts for the Dolphins this season, including one against Indianapolis in Week 7. He has completed 59% of his throws for 5.7 yards per attempt with one touchdown and one interception.

The Browns defense ranks 26th in points allowed per game, 25.3 points given up per contest and 27th in yards per pass attempt surrendered this season.
