The record-setting moment came on a seven-yard run with 9:21 left in the fourth quarter, bringing Daniels to 820 total rushing yards. In 2012, former Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III set the previous mark with 815 rushing yards during his NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year campaign.

Griffin III also led Washington to the NFC East Division title, leading the team to a 9-6 record while completing 65.6 percent of his passes.

Additionally, Daniels passed Kirk Cousins to record the second-most combined passing and rushing yards by a quarterback in a single season with 4,281, according to the Commanders. Cousins had previously ranked second with 4,272 combined yards in 2017.

An even higher goal – he wants to surpass them.

“(Vick) was first, but I think Lamar has him now,” Daniels told DeArdo before the draft. “I’m in the league now so I’m trying to get past them.”

In his final season at LSU, Daniels ran for 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns, becoming the first FBS player to rush for at least 200 yards and throw for 350 yards in the same game, according to DeArdo. It’s no surprise he’s taken the NFL by storm.
