Conor McGregor agrees to fight Logan Paul in boxing competition

Conor McGregor has revealed the opponent he is targeting in his return to combat sports, which is not planned for the octagon.

McGregor made the announcement in a post on Tuesday morning. McGregor also denied any rumors of a fight against UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria.

No date has been announced for the possible exhibition.

McGregor hasn’t fought in any capacity since 2021, when Dustin Poirier defeated him by first-round TKO at UFC 264 after McGregor broke his leg in the octagon. He was scheduled to return to the UFC last summer at UFC 303 against Michael Chandler, but the fight was canceled with UFC President Dana White citing an injury to McGregor.

McGregor has only fought outside the octagon once, when he faced Floyd Mayweather in a professionally sanctioned boxing match in 2017 and was defeated by TKO in the 10th round.

His alleged opponent Paul has also fought Mayweather in the ring, in a non-judgmental exhibition bout in 2021. Paul’s last adventure in the ring took place in the summer of 2023, when he took on mixed martial arts fighter Dillon Danis and in After winning the sixth round, Danis was disqualified for attempting an MMA-style takedown, leading to a fight between his companions in the ring.

Paul has not yet commented on a possible fight with McGregor.

During McGregor’s absence from combat sports, he was recently found liable in a civil lawsuit filed in Ireland for a 2018 sexual assault. McGregor maintains his innocence.
