Could Nancy Meyers’ hit film “The Holiday” have a sequel? Actor Jude Law Teases “Conversation Comes Up”

It’s been twenty years since the release of Nancy Meyers’ hit romantic comedy The Holiday, and that may have sparked talk of a sequel. In an interview with ComicBook, Jude Law, who played Graham in the film, spoke about a possible sequel. As the cast and crew realized their love for their film had grown over the years, they began communicating more.

“People really made it a part of their holiday season on a regular basis. We started communicating because we were excited,” he told the outlet. Although the actor denied that there was a “plan” at this point, he did admit that it was a “joy” to be surrounded by such conversations. “When does this happen? Maybe a handful of films, so we’ve been very lucky, and that’s a beautiful thing,” he teased.

Law also admitted that “of course that conversation comes up,” but it depends on Meyers whether or not there is an idea for a sequel. He also praised the director’s “meticulous” nature and suggested that it could take some time to execute.

“She would only do it if it was a really viable idea, and then it would depend on whether the four of us would come back. I would be interested to see what they all do,” he explained.

“The Holiday” received a mixed critical response but dominated the box office, grossing $200 million worldwide. In the end, it became one of the last great Christmas films from a major Hollywood studio.

The film – starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black – follows film trailer editor Amanda (Diaz) and a Surrey-based journalist named Iris (Winslet). “The two decide to swap houses for two weeks at Christmas and both try to forget their difficult love lives until love finds them anyway,” the official synopsis reads.
