Customers rush to Eastview Mall for last-minute Christmas shopping

Victor, NY (WHAM) – The clock is ticking for last-minute holiday shopping as shoppers rushed to Eastview Mall on Tuesday to pick up gifts before the big man in red shows up.

When talking to these shoppers, they say Christmas Eve is like the Super Bowl for people who wait until the very last minute to shop.

Eastview Mall’s doors closed at 6 p.m. Tuesday and customers shopped until they dropped.

Trent Paskins says he comes here every Christmas Eve.

“We had a few last minute purchases, which is pretty normal for us. We do this every Christmas Eve at the mall,” Paskins continued. “It’s always looking for things for mom. We have all the things we need, but we had to let Mom shop today and that took four hours.”

Paskins tells me that everything he needs for Christmas is here, even the presents being wrapped.

“Because now we can go home and relax,” Paskins said. “We don’t have to wrap our presents, go out to dinner, and have a good time tonight. There’s one less thing on the plate for tomorrow morning, right?”

Foot traffic in the mall was slow, allowing customers to get in and out easily.

“Hentic, streamlined, fortunately, ironically, and I’m very impressed with how polite and accommodating people are in general, as is the case in New York,” said Ken Gilfus. “But this year it was just the opposite.”

The last-minute shopping on the street may be a selling point for some, but these customers had nothing more to share than Christmas cheer.

“Just continue to spread the peace and joy,” Gilfus said. “Tis the season.”

“Merry Christmas, Mom,” Easton DiNardo said.

Paskins concluded. “Oh everyone, I wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and I wish everyone the best.”

As a reminder, many stores, including Eastview Mall, will remain closed on Wednesday
