David Pastrnak is out with an injury, but the Boston Bruins beat the Washington Capitals 4-1

BOSTON – Elias Lindholm scored with 6:19 left to break the tie in the third period, and the Boston Bruins converted a five-minute penalty without allowing a shot on goal to beat the Washington Capitals 4-1 on Monday night.

The score was 1-1 when Charlie Coyle played a long pass to Lindholm and passed it to Brad Marchand at the blue line to start a two-on-one. Marchand passed the ball back, Lindholm deflected it to goalkeeper Charlie Lindgren on the ice and then backhanded it into the net to make it 2-1.

Coyle made it 3-1 two minutes later and Marchand added an empty-net goal. Justin Brazeau also scored a goal and Jeremy Swayman made 10 saves for the Bruins, who won for the fourth time in five games and improved to 11-4-1 since Joe Sacco replaced Jim Montgomery on the bench.

Jakub Vrana scored a goal and Lindgren stopped 18 shots for the Capitals, who entered the day leading the Eastern Conference and have lost three of their last six games.
