Delta will launch nonstop service from Washington DC to Seattle in March 2025

New route consolidates service to DCA from all Delta U.S. hubs. As the largest out-perimeter market, Delta’s new service is an important addition to an underserved market.

Delta will launch new nonstop service between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) on March 9, 2025, following approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation. This new route represents a significant milestone by providing customers with a more competitive and convenient option for nonstop service between Seattle and nearby Washington Airport.

Delta’s SEA-DCA route was one of five new non-perimeter flights selected by the DOT. These routes were made possible by Delta’s advocacy in conjunction with the FAA reauthorization bill recently passed in the U.S. House and Senate and signed by President Biden in May. With this highly anticipated final order, Delta will offer nonstop service from the nation’s capital to all three of its western hubs.

“Seattle is a key market for our customers, an important hub for Delta and a premier gateway to the West Coast,” said Glen Hauenstein, president of Delta Air Lines. “Delta commends the Department of Transportation for recognizing that DCA’s additional service to Seattle will provide consumers with the much-needed competition and choice they deserve. We look forward to launching a new premium DCA service in March.”

Community and business leaders played a critical role in supporting efforts to secure the new service, highlighting the positive economic impact and customer benefits the route will bring.

The route will be operated using Delta’s state-of-the-art Airbus A321neo aircraft, providing a superior customer experience while supporting a more sustainable future of flying through operational efficiency and lower fuel consumption. Delta continues to invest in a fuel-efficient fleet and was recently recognized by the Port of Seattle as having the highest proportion of fuel-efficient aircraft in service at SEA in 2023.

Delta also offers SkyMiles members fast, free inflight WiFi throughout the flight and all customers can enjoy a wide range of in-flight entertainment options including Delta Studio films, television series, music, podcasts and more.

ONGOING INVESTMENTS IN SEATTLE

In addition to this new service to and from DCA, Delta has focused heavily on establishing SEA as a key gateway to Asia with routes to Tokyo (HND), Seoul (ICN), Shanghai (PVG) and most recently Taipei (TPE). As a global airline based in Seattle, Delta offers consumers in the Pacific Northwest the most nonstop travel options to long-haul international destinations.

From spring 2025, customers can look forward to further improvements as these routes transition to Airbus A350 aircraft with a total of 306 seats. These updates will provide approximately 55,000 more seats per year than the A330s currently operating on these routes and increase premium seating options on Delta One and Delta Premium Select by 40%.

Additionally, Seattle will become the fourth airport to feature a Delta One lounge in summer 2025, complemented by the addition of a second Sky Club spanning more than 250,000 square feet in Concourse A.

“As Delta celebrates more than 90 years of operations in Seattle, the airline continues to grow and expand its presence in the community through strategic investments and enhanced flight options,” said Joan Wang, general manager – Pacific Northwest at Delta Air Lines. “And as Seattle’s largest international airline, we are committed to connecting the world to the Evergreen State and showcasing everything Washington has to offer.”
