Dennis Rodman is seemingly ending the Travis Scott feud, months after making bitter accusations

With its signature inverted Swoosh, Jordan Brand’s Travis Scott line quickly became iconic among fans. But Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman wasn’t about to steal any credit from the rapper. Earlier this year, the Chicago Bulls legend sparked controversy when he pointed out that he first wore the reverse Nike logo. But in a surprising twist, the once-fierce feud between Rodman and Scott appears to be over, and the two are finding common ground – and even collaborating on a new Jordan release.

Speaking of collaborations, Scott decided to go all out with his latest release, the Air Jordan 1 Low “Velvet brown.” With Christmas just around the corner, he brought in five-time NBA champion Dennis Rodman for a quirky Air Jordan x Cactus Jack commercial. Rodman took on the role of eccentric chocolate factory owner Willy Wonka and was the face of this imaginative sneaker promotion.

The commercial followed a fan’s discovery of a golden ticket inside her “Velvet brown” Sneaker box. But this didn’t come at an ordinary price – it was a one-way trip to La Flame’s sneaker factory at the North Pole. From the fan’s perspective, they embarked on a magical journey through the workshop. Rodman, who played the tour guide, stole the show by slamming the car through a door into Travis Scott’s office.

Startled but smiling, Scott greeted the guest with a laugh. “Damn, Dennis, it’s the third time this week, bro!” he joked, adding his unique flair to the promo.

For fans eager to grab these kicks, the wait is almost over. The “Velvet brown” Jordans are now live on the Cactus Jack website and will be available on Nike platforms for $150 starting December 21st at 10am ET. Due to limited inventory, only a lucky few will be able to get their hands on this festive release, making it the perfect sneaker grail for the holidays.

However, Rodman didn’t always have kind words for Scott. Already in March 2023, during one Got brine Appearance that he brazenly accused the rapper of “Copy” his reverse swoosh idea. He held up one of Scott’s designs and explained: “When I played for the Chicago Bulls, I was the first person to play my ball backwards.”

And at this year’s performance he upped the ante again.

To understand Rodman’s frustration, you have to go back to the ’90s. Before the legendary N’Destrukt became synonymous with Rodman, “The Worm” rocked the Air Darwin during his time with the San Antonio Spurs, which was released in 1994.

Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Darwin was the first Nike shoe with a reverse Swoosh. Yes, before the now-iconic aesthetic dominated Travis Scott’s Jordan collaborations, Rodman had already set the trend. With its standout design and practical features, including ankle padding and a visible air sole, the Air Darwin was like Travis Scott’s Jordans could run.

Fast forward to this year Got brine event, and Rodman made his feelings crystal clear. “I had this pressure before Travis Scott was even born.” he joked. His anger was directed not only at Scott, but also at Nike, accusing the brand of recycling the design without credit.

So I don’t know why Travis Scott is trying to copy the original DR – Dennis Rodman. Nike, you should be ashamed of Travis Scott. What the fuck, man!” Rodman scolded while holding one of Scott’s sneakers.

Despite all the allegations, Rodman and Scott appear to have put the feud behind them with the launch of their joint Air Jordan campaign. Who knew a sneaker design could trigger such a dramatic yet surprisingly wholesome ending?
