Dense fog in the morning, sunshine and melting in the afternoon

Parts of western and southwestern Iowa cleared enough to see sunshine today, but clouds and fog remained in other locations. Another dense fog warning is in effect for northern/eastern Iowa this evening and will remain in effect until 9 a.m. Monday. Overnight temperatures drop to 32°. Temperatures will rise to over 40°C, but the breeze will also increase, blowing over 30 miles per hour at times. Expect winds to reach only 30°C at their warmest in the afternoon. Clouds will increase again until Tuesday before a rapid downpour moves in from the west. Light snow will develop across southern Minnesota/northern Iowa during the second half of the day through Tuesday night. Dust formation is possible toward the Minnesota border, but dry conditions will limit precipitation farther south. The rest of the week will bring some temperature fluctuations to Iowa. Highs will fall to freezing on Wednesday and rise back to 40° on Thursday due to a fast moving system. The coming weekend now looks colder. Highs only in the 20s are likely on Saturday, possibly into Sunday.
