Dense fog tonight, great danger on Saturday

Dense fog is possible ahead of Saturday’s storms. Visibility can drop below a quarter mile. After the fog, the main headline is the threat of severe weather, including tornadoes.

Tonight and tomorrow: As we move into the overnight hours, clouds will form again. These are very low clouds that eventually reach the ground as fog. A ***Notice about dense fog*** was issued for the entire capital area. This applies from 6:00 p.m. this evening and 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. Lows will be in the mid 60s. There will be increasing showers and a few thunderstorms in the morning hours. Scattered to isolated storms are expected for the remainder of the morning and into the afternoon. Although there is a risk of them becoming serious, the overall risk is lower. The greatest probability of severe weather is with extensive squalls in the evening. Isolated tornadoes, isolated damaging winds and isolated hail events cannot be ruled out. Aside from the storms, it will be a warm day with highs in the upper 70s.

Next: A cold front will finally move through the state early Sunday morning, ending the threat of severe weather and bringing back dry and sunny conditions. This front will not be followed by a major drop in temperature. Another cold front will pass on Tuesday, finally bringing cooler temperatures as we begin 2025.
