“We had our opportunities and just didn’t finish,” said Nix.

Nix was asked if he wished they had gone for the two-point conversion after Marvin Mims Jr.’s touchdown with eight seconds left in the game.

“Well, I have no decision-making authority, so I try to go in pairs. “At the end of the day, it’s not always the wisest decision,” Nix said. “I definitely want the ball and the chance to win, but we had the chance in extra time and I missed it. It was a good decision for us to kick and go to extra time.”

The Denver Broncos lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in overtime 30-24. Nix had a mixed record with some great shots, but also missed some chances on the table. The highlight of Nix’s game was a bombastic 51-yard touchdown pass to Marin Mims Jr. that ended the game in the 4th quarter. The ball traveled 67 yards in the air and was the longest completion in the NFL this season, according to Benjamin Solak on X.

After an interception by Nix that led to a Bengals touchdown and a 24-17 lead, Nix led the Broncos down the field and connected with Mims again for a 25-yard touchdown that pushed the lead to 24-23 shortened. Sean Payton opted to end the game with an extra point to tie the score at 24 instead of going for two and the win.

Overtime was a struggle for the Broncos offense. They had several opportunities to score points and ended up punting on both drives. Denver got lucky on the Bengals’ second drive, which ended with the Bengals missing a game-winning field goal off the upright.

Nix and Broncos got the ball back and only needed a field goal to win. They also could have picked up a few first downs and run out the clock to preserve a tie. Denver just needed a draw or a win to secure a spot in the playoffs.

The Broncos went out of bounds three times and gave the ball right back to Joe Burrow and the Bengals, who immediately marched down the field and tied the game with a Tee Higgins touchdown. The Broncos now likely need to win against the Kansas City Chiefs next week to get into the playoffs. Luckily for Denver, the Chiefs have already secured the No. 1 overall pick, allowing them to sit out their starters. The Broncos still control their Destiny lease through Week 18.
