Derek Carr reacts to Taysom Hill’s injury during Saints vs. Rams

The New Orleans Saints’ loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday descended into disaster when star playmaker Taysom Hill left the field with what was believed to be a serious knee injury. Hill, the reigning NFC Offensive Player of the Week, injured his knee on a first-down run while wearing a helmet and was on the ground for several minutes while being attended to by medical staff.

Many of his fans were upset when they saw he was injured; Hill’s physical style of play and ability as a move-anywhere chess piece have endeared him to many fans. One of them was Derek Carr. The Saints quarterback shared his reaction to Hill’s reaction after the game.

“It’s the worst,” Carr told reporters, adding that he had not yet heard details about Hill’s status. He continued: “Exactly as a brother, as a friend. It’s bigger than football at this moment.”

Carr has gone on record as calling Hill one of the best football players he has ever shared a field with, and so he was right there where many Saints fans were watching anxiously when No. 7 was out. And he was pleased with the support for Hill as he was carried into the locker room.

“I love the way our fans treated him. I didn’t expect anything less from our fans. The way they treated him,” Carr reflected. “It wasn’t a good time for him, but that was really cool.”

Here’s hoping Hill’s injury isn’t as serious as it looked, but the Saints are preparing for the worst. Stay tuned for updates.
