Derrick White missed the Celtics-Cavs game with a foot injury

Boston Celtics guard Derrick White was sidelined Sunday afternoon before the team’s road game against the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers. Boston’s All-Defensive Guard missed the game with what that meant The team called a right ankle sprain.

White first injured his foot in Boston’s previous game, a 138-129 NBA Cup win over the Chicago Bulls on Friday night. White missed the final portion of the game and no further update was given on his status after that. White also seemed to have found the same footing a few days earlier at home against the Los Angeles Clipper. At the time of writing, it is unclear how much time White will miss. Boston is scheduled to play five games over seven nights, so his absence could be of particular concern as depth will be very important given the heavy workload.

White has yet to miss a single game for the Celtics this season, up from 73 last year. During the 2024-25 regular season, White averaged a career-best 18.3 points per game to go with 4.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists.
