Dick Van Dyke appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on December 5th and shares humor and thoughts as he approaches his 99th birthday on December 13th.

Van Dyke, known for his iconic roles in Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, joined Coldplays Chris Martin to talk about their collaboration on the brand All my love Music video starring Van Dyke.

While Van Dyke playfully poked fun at his age, he joked, “I’m old enough to be Joe Biden’s dad,” and joked about occasional memory lapses, saying, “Right now I think I’m on the Jimmy Kimmel Show am.”

Accordingly PeopleChris Martin highlighted a touching moment on set when Van Dyke’s 73-year-old son Barry asked to use the pool slide, describing the interaction as heartwarming.

Martin joked: “Together they are 176 years old.”

Additionally, Van Dyke also reflected on his seven-decade career, which includes recent awards such as winning a 2024 Creative Arts Emmy for his 98th birthday special.

Although he outlived many of his peers, he emphasized that he was grateful for the enduring love of his family and fans.

Meanwhile, praising his wife Arlene Silver for keeping the spirits high, he told the outlet, “Every day is a celebration.”

Additionally, Van Dyke plans to celebrate his milestone birthday with his loved ones and continue to inspire with his humor, humility and resilience.
