Dodgers are in danger of losing their beloved slugger to the Yankees after Juan Soto signed

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series in 2024, but may not be able to keep all of their key players in 2025. They could lose a fan favorite to the New York Yankees.

Teoscar Hernández is one of the best players available, but he is not a candidate to return to the Dodgers. According to Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com, the New York Yankees are also interested in him.

Hernández will be a target for most teams that lose the Soto sweepstakes. Cotillo noted that his market should warm up after Soto’s signing. Hernández has made it clear that he wants to stay with the Dodgers, but they will have to compete with multiple teams to get him back.

Hernández told reporters after the World Series that the Dodgers were his first choice, but it was out of his hands.

“The Dodgers will be my priority in free agency. I will do everything possible to return. It’s out of my hands, but if it were, I would choose her,” Hernández said.

Hernández had a career year with the Dodgers and was selected to the All-Star selection for the second time of his career. He hit 33 home runs and 99 RBIs in 154 games for the World Series champions. He was a key part of their championship.

The Yankees would likely consider him a “must-have” sign if Soto leaves. He can play every day and bring a lot of power. However, his desire to stay in Los Angeles might be enough for the Dodgers to convince him to sign with them for a little less than other offers.
