You can find Raising Cane copycats like Great Value’s famous Chicken Fingers and Chicken Finger Dipping Sauce at Walmart. If you just like the Texas toast and want to save money, a woman tells you how to get 16 slices of bread for $2 without going to Raising Cane’s.

In the clip, which has 339,000 views, TikTok user Maura Tipton (@mauracagneytipton) stands in her kitchen. “You’re telling me that I went to Cane’s the whole time to get the bread and that I could have gone to Klosterman Bakery?” she asks, holding a plastic bag full of slices of Texas toast. Klosterman’s Baking Company is a Midwestern supplier that distributes bread to customers and restaurants. “I got 16 for $2.”

For not figuring this out sooner, the content creator rants in the caption: “Why don’t they tell us these things?” 16 for $2!”

The audience wants the bread

“I want the bread,” wrote one viewer.

“So would you even be willing to pick up a few and bring them to California overnight?” asked another.

Since Klosterman Bakery isn’t always nearby, some shared their scammers.

“Trader Joe’s brioche hot dog buns are a good trick too,” said a third.

“Bread from Wonderbread and chicken and gravy from Walmart,” a fourth commented.

What type of bread does Raising Cane’s use?

“It’s called BBQ bread and I thought most grocery stores sold it. Is that something southern? I mean, Raising Cane’s was founded in south Louisiana so I guess it’s possible,” remarked a fifth.

Raising Cane’s love of Texas toast made its way to Reddit. “What bread is used for the toast?” asked a Redditor on the ar/RaisingCanes subreddit. Users gave answers.

“I remember when I worked there 10 years ago, the bag said something like ‘BBQ’. Similar to this bread here, but this is not the right one. “All I know for sure is that it said ‘barbecue,’” one user shared. “The bread was buttered in the restaurant and you could order it BOB style, so butter on both sides. Maybe they’ve changed bread since then, because like I said, that was 10 years ago.”

“They are Klosterman BBQ sesame bread loaves. The butter isn’t butter, it’s garlic spread,” said another.

Where to buy BBQ sesame breads

If you don’t have a Klosterman Bakery, Walmart offers a 14-ounce dupe for $1.47. However, it is available on the Klosterman’s Baking Company website and Amazon if you want authentic bread.
