Does Tennessee football want to add a transfer running back?

Tennessee has already lost two RBs to the portal. With Dylan Sampson’s future in question, will the Vols turn to the portal?

Tennessee has already lost two running backs to the portal, with Cameron Seldon and Khalifa Keith announcing earlier this month that they were expected to enter the transfer portal.

Since Dylan Sampson had a great season, his decision regarding the NFL is questionable. While no decision has been made yet, the running back room could look very different.

Peyton Lewis and DeSean Bishop are both healthy again as both will be sophomores next season, with Daune Morris and Justin Baker being the true freshmen out of Knoxville, Tennessee. However, that hasn’t stopped the Vols from looking in the portal.

One person who has particularly caught the Vols’ eye is Fluff Bothwell. Bothwell is a 5-foot-10, 220-pound running back from South Alabama. He had an outstanding true freshman season, rushing for 13 touchdowns and 834 yards. This was good enough for the third team to earn all Sun Belt honors. He is currently a top 35 portal player and a top 5 running back.

The Vols have reached out to the star in hopes of making an impact despite several schools targeting him. A visit hasn’t been made public yet, but if he were to visit the Vols there could be sparks.
