Donald Trump Jr. speaks out amid divided speculation about Kimberly Guilfoyle

Donald Trump Jr. has congratulated Kimberly Guilfoyle on her nomination as the next American ambassador to Greece. Unconfirmed reports say the couple’s engagement is “over” as the new president’s son is dating socialite Bettina Anderson.

On December 11th the Daily Mail reported that Trump Jr.’s engagement to Guilfoyle, who was previously married to now-California Gov. Gavin Newsom, is “over.” Speaking to the publication, a “source familiar with the family” said the couple “waited until after the inauguration” to announce their split. Trump is scheduled to be sworn in as president for the second time on January 20, 2025.

That’s in September Daily Mail said Guilfoyle was “blindsided” after it published photos of Trump Jr. having an intimate lunch with Anderson at the Honor Bar in Palm Beach, Florida. The publication reported that the couple was “seen kissing several times during dinner.”

The Daily Mail also said Trump Jr. invited Anderson, the daughter of banker Harry Loy Anderson Jr., to dinner on Dec. 6 to celebrate her 38th birthday. In an Instagram Story post, Anderson shared photos of the meal, including pouring a bottle of Salon 2013 Champagne, with the captions, “S is for Spoiled” and “How sweet it is to be loved by you.”

Newsweek contacted Donald Trump Jr. through the Trump Organization press office along with Kimberly Guilfoyle and Bettina Anderson via Instagram direct message for comment on Wednesday outside of regular office hours.

Trump announced Tuesday on his Truth Social website that he had named Guilfoyle as the next U.S. ambassador to Greece, commenting: “For many years, Kimberly has been a close friend and ally. Her extensive experience and leadership in the legal, media and political arenas.” Combined with her keen intellect, she is extremely qualified to represent the United States and protect its interests abroad.”

In order to be confirmed as ambassador after Trump’s inauguration, Guilfoyle must first be confirmed by the Senate.

Trump has a long track record of appointing family members to key positions. In November, he announced that Charles Kushner, a businessman and father-in-law of Ivanka Trump, had been named the next U.S. ambassador to France, while Tiffany Trump’s father-in-law, Massad Boulos, was named senior adviser for the Middle East.

Lara Trump, Eric Trump’s wife, was co-chair of the Republican National Committee until earlier this week, when there was speculation that she might seek the Florida Senate seat previously held by Marco Rubio. During Trump’s first term, both Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner served as senior advisers.

Trump Jr. has five children from his marriage to Vanessa Trump, which lasted from 2005 to 2018. This included 17-year-old Kai Trump, who recently gained a significant YouTube following after documenting her life and interactions with her grandfather.
