Donate to these North Jersey nonprofits for Giving Tuesday

This Giving Tuesday, local organizations are calling for donations and support to help those in need. Giving Tuesday is celebrated every year on the first Tuesday after Black Friday and highlights the spirit of generosity.

Below are several New Jersey-based nonprofits seeking donations to make a difference in their communities.

Toni’s kitchen

Toni’s Kitchen in Montclair is raising funds for a new double convection oven and related upgrades to continue preparing fresh, healthy meals for its neighbors. The organization aims to raise $50,000. Every contribution, regardless of size, will help them achieve their goal.

Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ)

CFBNJ offers donors the opportunity to double their impact. This Giving Tuesday, donations will be matched up to $50,000 to provide twice as many meals to people facing hunger. Additionally, if 600 supporters donate, an anonymous donor will contribute an additional $10,000 in matching funds.

Eve’s village

Eva’s Village, based in Paterson, provides important resources such as safe housing, hot meals, addiction support, counseling and job training. Contributions are designed to help individuals and families achieve independence and healthier lives.

Local animal shelters

Animal lovers can make a difference at the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, where Giving Tuesday 1:1 donations are matched up to $10,000. These funds support the care and accommodation of animals in need.

There are numerous animal shelters to donate to in North Jersey, including Bergen County Animal Shelter, Clifton Animal Shelter, Bloomfield Animal Shelter, St. Hubert’s and more.

True mentors

True Mentors connects at-risk youth with local volunteers to provide educational support, mentoring and enrichment programs. The nonprofit organization focuses on helping young people build strong relationships and realize their potential. Interested people can register as volunteers via the website.

Food Brigade

The Dumont-based Food Brigade’s mission is to feed the hungry. According to its website, the group fed nearly 78,000 people in 2023. Donation information can be found here.
