Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond headed to the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament

Two of the Detroit Red Wings’ top players will be busy in February.

Dylan Larkin made the US squad, Lucas Raymond made the Swedish squad. Both will compete in the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament, which replaces the NHL All-Star Game this season.

Larkin was named to the American team Wednesday night, several hours after Raymond was named to the Swedish team.

The United States, Sweden, Canada and Finland will take part in the event, which will take place February 12-20 in Montreal and Boston. Each team plays three games, with the top two teams competing in a winner-take-all final. The teams consist exclusively of NHL players.

It was a given that Raymond would make the Swedish team, but Larkin withstood competition from a tremendously strong forward group vying to represent the United States. Larkin is having a good season, though, with 12 goals and eight assists in 25 games. And although it is an NHL event, Larkin has represented his country at the 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 World Cup.

The rest of the U.S. team includes forwards Matt Boldy, Kyle Connor, Jack Eichel, Jake Guentzel, Jack Hughes, Chris Kreider, Auston Matthews, JT Miller, Brock Nelson, Brady Tkachuk, Matthew Tkachuk and Vincent Trocheck; defensemen Brock Faber, Adam Fox, Noah Hanifin, Quinn Hughes (Michigan), Charlie McAvoy, Jacob Slavin and Zach Werenski; and goaltenders Connor Hellebuyck (trade), Jake Oettinger and Jeremy Swayman.

Goaltender Cam Talbot was having a good season before suffering a lower-body injury last weekend, but Canada relied on Jordan Binnington, Adin Hill and Sam Montembault.
