Eagles, Bills secure No. 2 seeds; Who is still alive in the playoff race?

4) Miami Dolphins: They beat the Browns without Tua Tagovailoa is keeping her playoff hopes alive. Their path is more straightforward than the Bengals’: The Broncos have to lose and the Dolphins have to beat the Jets to send the Dolphins to the postseason.

5) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Their 48-14 win over the Carolina Panthers keeps the Bucs alive in Week 18 for the NFC South title. The Bucs have a one-game lead in the division after Atlanta’s loss on Sunday night and can clinch the title with a win over the Carolina Panthers next week. They must finish one game ahead of the Falcons to win the NFC South, as a tie on the record will result in the division going to the Falcons, who beat the Bucs in the regular season.

6) Buffalo Bills: They have secured the No. 2 seed in the AFC, meaning they will face the No. 7 seed in the AFC and would only have to leave home during the playoffs for an AFC Championship game if it is in Kansas City. Equally important, the Bills defense looked much better than it did in their strangely porous performance against the Patriots in Week 16. They made Aaron Rodgers miserable, sacking him four times, intercepting him twice, and keeping the Jets off the scoreboard until Tyrod Taylor had replaced him.

7) Green Bay Packers: It was too little, too late, but the Packers’ offense rallied from a 17-point deficit with about seven minutes left against the Vikings and showed what will make the Packers a dangerous opponent in the playoffs – Jordan Love let it crash. The Packers have been defeated by the Lions and Vikings this season but are still in contention.

8) Los Angeles Rams: They clinched the NFC West after beating the Cardinals on Saturday night and then sat back and watched the strength of the win tiebreaker – the fifth tiebreaker – go their way. Wins by the Bills, Vikings and Commanders on Sunday gave the Rams a lead over the Seattle Seahawks. There may be better ways to spend an off day in the NFL, but we can’t think of any.

9) Washington Commanders: Their Sunday night victory over the Falcons, in an overtime session fittingly dominated by Jayden Daniels, clinched a wild-card berth for the Commanders, the biggest step in their dramatic turnaround from a 4-13 season in 2023. If they are ranked No . 7 seed, the Commanders would face the Eagles on Super Wild Card Weekend. The teams split their regular season meetings.
