Edie Falco almost fought Joel Embiid for Jalen Brunson in the 2024 NBA Playoffs

When it comes to the NBA as a whole, few players are as unpopular outside of their fan base as center Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, especially when it comes to the New York Knicks.

Do you need proof? Look no further than Edie Falco, the actress famous for her role as Carmella The sopranos and Nurse Jackie on her eponymous show, who almost accused The Process of elbowing Jalen Brunson during the playoffs earlier this year, as she noted on the show Roommate Show.

“Joel Embiid, he’s mean. He elbowed you in a game last year and I wanted to chase him. I mean, that’s how bad it was,” Falco said, via the NY Post. “And I think I’ve seen you guys play since then and you’re all cool with each other. I’m like, ‘You don’t hold a grudge?'”

Well, as it turns out, that’s not the case with Brunson, as he noted in his answer.

“For the most part, I don’t hold grudges,” Brunson explained. “Yes, I hold a grudge, who should I lie to? But I knew Joel before I even came into the league. I met him a few times. It’s all about respect. I think there’s a certain limit where there’s respect and you’re all competing with each other and when that’s done, it’s good. I wouldn’t say it’s cool; I would say it’s good.”

Embiid, take note: If you ever face Brunson and “Don’t Stop Believin” starts playing on the arena PA, you better get your ass to the locker room, because Falco might not be so reserved the second time around around.

Later in her appearance on the podcast, Falco commented on the Knicks’ trade activity, which she initially wasn’t a fan of. Although she likes the new guys more and more, she wants the team to involve the fans in some way, as they have enjoyed the chemistry between the group in 2024 and 2024.

“You would think I would be better at managing trades than I am. I don’t know who is responsible for these decisions, but they need to talk to the fans. It’s the latter that really leaves some of us devastated. I’m getting along, the new people are great,” explained Falco.

“You’re a Knick fan, but what does it mean to be a Knick fan? Just that they’re playing in the garden? It’s the boys. It’s the guys you get attached to. It’s the way they play together, the interactions and the inside jokes and whatever you all have that makes reading. If you get rid of a few of these guys, I thought, ‘Are you kidding me?’ You can’t do that.’ That’s not healthy, man. I have kids and a life and stuff, and I’m completely broken down.”

Should the Knicks reach out to fans before making a trade? No, no offense, Sister Jackie, but this sounds like the absolute worst idea imaginable for a number of reasons. Still, I thank the veteran actor for asking, because any true fan would probably do the same.
