More than 4,000 Vicksburg and Warren County residents are without power Sunday morning due to inclement weather Saturday evening.

“Entergy Mississippi crews, contractors, tree trimmers and scouts are working diligently to restore power to more than 45,000 customers following the recent severe system,” Entergy officials said Sunday morning. “Entergy Mississippi reports that fewer than 36,000 customers are still without power as of 9 a.m..”

Areas without power in Vicksburg were reported primarily in the city’s Ward 1 (formerly North Ward), while additional reports of damage and power outages came from the Eagle Lake area in northern Warren County.

Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. said he has been in touch with Entergy officials.

“Your team is working as quickly as possible to restore power to the 4,066 Vicksburg and Warren County residents without power. We ask everyone to be patient during this time,” city officials said. “Please exercise caution and avoid downed power lines as these can still be dangerous. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mayor Flaggs directly at 601-942-0492.”

Entergy Mississippi officials said Warren County residents were among more than 30,000 people still without power Sunday in central and southern parts of the state.

“Entergy Mississippi has more than 235 additional grid operators, vegetation workers and damage assessors working alongside internal teams to restore power as quickly and safely as possible,” Entergy officials said. “Additional crews have been requested and will work to ensure steady progress is made.

“The company continues to urge everyone to stay safe. Stay away from downed power lines and flooded areas. “Do not walk in standing water or go to areas with debris as you may not be able to see power lines that are still live and could be dangerous.”
