Enzo Maresca confirms a player who will start against Tottenham to end the frustrating debate

Enzo Maresca has just attended his press conference following Chelsea’s win over Southampton and as expected the coach was in good spirits.

During the second half and at the end of the season, numerous away fans signed his name as the manager took over his players to acknowledge the support.

“It was a very good feeling. You can see that they are happy, that is our goal, we work every day to make them happy. Tonight felt very good. They see that Chelsea are back and that is an important thing,” said the coach.

“I think it’s a good feeling, not just for the owners but also for the players, the club and the fans. A good feeling for all of us. The results will certainly help us a lot in calming the noise in the club. It’s a good feeling to see the fans happy,” he concluded.

It shows the changing emotions at Chelsea as frustration gives way to joy from the fanbase who watched their team beat Southampton and maintain their great form.

Maresca ends the debate between Sanchez and Jorgensen

Another hot topic tonight was the battle for goalkeepers. Filip Jorgensen played really well in the Europa League last week and made his first Premier League start tonight, leading to questions about whether he could start on Sunday. But Maresca, who has repeatedly publicly supported Sánchez, didn’t really want to engage in that debate tonight.

He made it clear that he wasn’t here to discuss who played in goal:

“We will play against Sanchez and 10 players (on Sunday). That’s the only thing that’s certain.”

Well, that’s settled then. We understand his frustration and why he is desperate to support his man and give Sánchez confidence.
