Ex-CNN analyst admits ignoring Biden's deteriorating health as report exposes White House cover-up

Former CNN political analyst Chris Cillizza has admitted he “should have done more” to cover up his concerns President Joe Bidenmental and physical health.
In a YouTube video posted Thursday, Cillizza acknowledged that he had failed to do so despite regular calls from Republicans to address Biden’s decline, brushing the issue off the table at the time.
“As a reporter, I have a confession to make,” Cillizza said. “I should have pushed harder sooner for more information about Joe Biden’s mental and physical well-being and any signs of decline.”

An apology for my reporting on Joe Biden

He recalled that during his time at CNN, Republicans often contacted him and asked why he had not addressed the obvious signs of the president’s decline.
However, Cillizza admitted that he “dismissed” her because he saw no concrete evidence of Biden’s failing health, despite visible verbal gaffes, physical stumbles and moments in which the president appeared to lose his train of thought in public.
Cillizza’s confession follows a sensational Wall Street Journal report revealing how Biden’s aides carefully exploited his presidency to conceal the extent of his age-related decline, according to the New York Post.
According to the report, meetings with senior national security officials were frequently postponed or canceled, with aides responding that Biden has “good days and bad days” and some days are simply “bad days.” Lawmakers also reported having limited contact with the president, who was largely surrounded by his fiercely loyal aides.
Citing the report in his video, Cillizza said he accepted the White House’s position that Biden was mentally and physically fit and that this was preventing him from pushing the issue more. He also admitted that fear of “age-shaming” played a role in his hesitation to investigate further.
“The White House and the people around Joe Biden were absolutely convinced that it was offensive to suggest anything – to ask whether he was in a physical condition, a mental condition or both,” Cillizza said.
“‘How could you? It’s age-shaming.’ And I think that influenced me in some ways.”
While Cillizza said he popped the question on occasion, he also admitted he didn’t “push” her as much as he should have.
The political expert also acknowledges that Biden’s age became more of an issue after he left CNN and he began to question the president’s abilities.
“As Biden’s age became a little more clear to me, I think I wrote pretty regularly and talked about it pretty regularly that I wasn’t sure this guy was up to it,” he said.
“And then after the debate on June 27, obviously everyone, including me, was writing and talking about it.”
The debate, which raised questions about Biden’s abilities, led Democratic figures including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to encourage him to step down and support Vice President Kamala Harris, who later lost the presidential election to Donald Trump.
Thinking further, Cillizza admitted, “I probably should have addressed the Biden era more, because in hindsight it’s clear that people around him knew that he had, at best, some good days and some bad days.”
He further added that the poor performance at the June 27 debate made it clear that Biden’s health was a concern and raised questions about when his close aides became aware of the extent of his decline.
“When did the people around him know, what did they know and why didn’t they share it?” asked Cillizza.
