NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Happy Thanksgiving! This weekend features outdoor events, comedy and rhythm and blues in the comfort of the city’s best theaters. Here are the tips from Where Y’at!

  • On Thursday, November 28th, grab your best Thanksgiving outfit and hat as the fairgrounds hosts the Thanksgiving Classic horse race. A New Orleans tradition, general admission is free and packages with concessions are available, including a turkey buffet in the clubhouse.

  • The Front Bottoms next play The Fillmore this Saturday night, November 30th. The New Jersey singer/guitarist and drummer duo will highlight songs from their new album, “You Are Who You Hang Out With.” VIP seating is available.

  • Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? The free Plaquemines Christmas Festival will be held in Belle Chase on Saturday, November 30th. This exciting festival begins with a fun run and includes a Christmas parade and holiday market with local craft vendors and food trucks.

  • Finally, New Orleans native Mark Normand brings his comedic talents to the Orpheum on Saturday evening, November 30th. Normand was called the “best young up-and-coming comedian” by fellow comedian Jerry Seinfeld. He has appeared in films such as “Ted” and his Netflix special “Soup to Nuts.”
