Fan reactions to the Vikings vs. Cardinals comeback

What a game. Great win. The Vikings made it a game in the fourth quarter. And then got the fourth stop to the victory formation. I think the Vikings coaching staff was completely under the care of the Cardinals for most of the game. It was embarrassing and painful to watch. On offense, we can’t score in the red zone, are still weak at the end of the first half and can’t convert third downs. On defense, we consistently give up third-down conversions, help the Cards on penalties, can’t sack Kyler Murray, and don’t come off the field most of the game. But then closed when they had to on both sides of the ball. Below are my 3 ups and 3 downs for the game.

1. Denied the Cards a game-opening TD. That was nice.

2. Nice touchdown drive late in the third quarter. It’s high time! Even better: Darnold TD drives late in the fourth quarter to take the lead.

3. Fourth-down interception and stop for the Vikings for the win. Wow.

1. Is the first offensive play of the game a Jones fumble? Lucky I got the recovery – that was another Jones fumble and another fumble on the first possession? Followed by a second Jones fumble. Not good. Unacceptable.

2. Even weaker game at halftime. On offense, do we get a sack on third down instead of first down to bleed out the clock and get a chance for a TD and make the FG attempt 50-plus? On defense, the Vikings have all three timeouts at the 2-minute warning for the second straight year and the defense allows penalties and multiple third-down conversions and simply can’t get off the field – leading to another FG late in the half leads. Sad.

3. The Vikings offense can’t score a TD midway through the fourth quarter and settle for a FG. Then the Vikings defense allows a long scoring drive in the fourth quarter for a FG.

Great comeback win. I’m looking forward to the Falcons!

The early stop helped limit Arizona to 1-for-6 on trips into the red zone, and the defense and special teams forced a missed field goal after Jones gave the Cardinals the ball on the Vikings’ 19.

Whether Darnold was accurate in overtime in Chicago (6 of 6 for 90 yards) or how unflappable he was after the Vikings trailed by 13 points less than 20 minutes into the game, these are all encouraging signs.

He withstood five sacks – and several passes batted at the line of scrimmage – and left with his first win in six games in which he had been sacked at least that many times and the first win in 24 games in which his team had 13 or We were 13 points behind more.

Although the deficit and ferocity of the first half paled in comparison to the Colts’ 2022 comeback, there were several points where the Vikings remained composed and found their way back into the game. O’Connell, his team and his players did not force themselves into mistakes that could have prevented the comeback.

Minnesota settled for the field goal, but secured the points and made it 19-16 with 11:08 left. The part that didn’t go as planned was an impressive 16-play drive that Arizona put together over the next 7:48 thanks to two third-and-7 conversions by the Cardinals.
