Fiorentina-Inter were abandoned after Edoardo Bove appeared to collapse during a Serie A game

Fiorentina’s Serie A match against Inter was abandoned after their midfielder Edoardo Bove appeared to collapse at Artemio Franchi in the first half.

The game was initially interrupted due to the medical emergency, but has now been canceled and postponed to a later date.

Referee Daniele Doveri sent both teams to the dressing rooms after an ambulance was brought to the edge of the pitch and 22-year-old Bove was carried to the back on a stretcher.

The incident occurred after 15 minutes of play. Inter and Fiorentina players contested Lautaro Martinez’s opening goal for the champions, which was then disallowed.

As the players protested over whether or not the ball had gone out of bounds in the run-up to the goal, attention turned to Bove, who had fallen to the ground while tying his shoelaces.

Both groups of players signaled for first responders to bring a stretcher and tend to Bove, who was then taken to the hospital. Fiorentina and Inter players appeared shaken and some were crying.

After brief discussions on the pitch between Fiorentina boss Alessandro Ferrari and Doveri, the game was stopped and later abandoned.
