Fire destroys building on Notre Dame Avenue

Description of the incident:

The companies responded to a reported structure fire at 268 Notre Dame Ave. on December 9th at 7:13 a.m. Upon arrival, Engine 6 and Truck 6 reported a working fire in a two-and-a-half story wood frame residence and established the incident command.

The emergency services immediately tensioned the hand lines and entered the building, with car 1 taking over the operational command. All units of the first alarm operation arrived at the scene and carried out search and rescue operations as well as ventilation and firefighting operations. Members of Rescue Unit 1 searched the building and reported an “all clear” for the residents.

Firefighters extinguished the fire on the second floor and gained access to the mezzanine, where the fire had spread to this compartment and the attic. Engine and truck companies worked intensively to overhaul and extinguish all hot spots.

One resident was relocated to the ground floor. The second and third floors were under construction and were unoccupied.

The incident was brought under control at 8:10 a.m

Civilian injuries: No injuries reported.

Injuries in emergency services: No injuries reported

Special circumstances: The 2nd and 3rd floors have been renovated
