FIRST ALERT 7 forecast for Wednesday, December 25, 2024

ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) – FIRST ALERT 7 Forecast for Wednesday, December 25, 2024: It looks like a foggy start to Christmas Day across West Texas and Southeast New Mexico, but it will be overall pleasant throughout the day, perfect for any vacation plans you may have.

Overnight temperatures cool to 30 to 40 degrees. Areas of fog may return early in the morning, particularly across the Permian Basin. So be careful when you leave tomorrow morning. Rudolph will likely have to use his nose to get through the fog overnight on Christmas Day, but other than some fog, conditions look good for Santa. Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies are expected throughout the day. Temperatures will remain cooler again, reaching highs in the 50s, 60s and 70s across West Texas and southeastern New Mexico. Midland/Odessa is aiming for a high of 63 degrees. Winds will be slightly stronger across the region, between 5 and 20 mph, with the strongest winds expected in southeastern New Mexico. Aside from possible morning fog, calm conditions are expected during the day.

Above-average temperatures will persist throughout the extended forecast, even with some cold fronts on the way. A frontal passage on Thursday is likely to bring a slight chance of rain during the morning hours in parts of the region, particularly in the far northeastern Permian Basin. Things will become drier as we head into the weekend and conditions will continue to warm as we approach the final days of 2024.
