Flood warnings issued for Navarro and Russian rivers • The Mendocino Voice

MENDOCINO CO., 12/13/24 – The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued minor flood warnings for two watersheds in Mendocino County, including the Navarro River, which will affect State Highway 128 near Philo, and the Russian River, which will affect could be State Highway 175 through Hopland and State Highway 222, also known as Talmage Road, in Ukiah.

The warning begins at 2 p.m. Friday and lasts until Saturday afternoon.

Additionally, flooding may occur in urban areas and places with poor drainage. There is also an increased risk of rockfalls and landslides on paved roads. Rainfall in Mendocino County is expected to range from 2 to 5 inches through Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, significant flooding is confirmed to occur on Highway 128, located 5 miles east of State Highway 1, and the road is expected to be closed. Travelers are advised not to drive through flooded areas and to take alternative routes.

The NWS also expects significant flooding to occur on Highway 175 through Hopland, right next to the city’s Russian River Bridge. The weather service does not expect flooding on Highway 222 in Ukiah to be significant.
