Football Announces 2025 Schedule – University of Maine Athletics

Black Bears will open the season on August 30 at Liberty

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine football program has announced its 2025 schedule. The Black Bears open the season on August 30th and will host their home game on September 13th.

All game times, promotional events and key games will be announced at a later date.

Maine’s 133rd football season officially begins with a game against Football Bowl Subdivision opponent Liberty on August 30. The meeting marks Maine’s third showdown with the Flames and first since a back-and-forth matchup in 2019 that ended in a 59-44 Liberty victory.

The Black Bears jump into CAA action in Week 2 with a game against William & Mary, with the all-time series between the two programs deadlocked at 8-8.

Maine will host Stonehill for the first time in program history in the Black Bears’ home opener on Sept. 13 before the second of two scheduled FBS games against Georgia Southern on Sept. 20. Maine’s first and only meeting with the Eagles took place in 2019.

The Black Bears return to CAA play when they host North Carolina A&T on September 27 in another showdown with a first-time opponent.

Maine remains in conference action with a trip to Bryant on Oct. 4, where the Black Bears will look for their fourth straight win against the Bulldogs.

The Black Bears play their final non-conference game of the season on Oct. 11 when they travel to Merrimack for the second straight year after handing the Warriors a 26-15 decision in the 2024 season.

Maine finishes the season with four conference opponents and begins Oct. 25 with Elon. The Black Bears enter the game 3-3 against the Phoenix and are looking for their first win against Elon since 2019.

The Black Bears return to the road for a showdown in Hampton on November 8th before hosting Rhode Island on November 15th for the 103rd meeting ever between the two regional opponents.

Maine will conclude the 2025 regular season with the 113th Battle of the Brice Cowell Musket in the Buffalo Wild Wings Border Battle when it travels to longtime rival New Hampshire on Nov. 22.
