For the first time in 147 years: South Africa’s debutant Corbin Bosch makes history and achieves a unique achievement

South African cricket team all-rounder Corbin Bosch created history by achieving a unique feat on his Test debut against Pakistan at Centurion. Bosch recorded a four-wicket haul and then hit 81 while batting at number 9. In doing so, he broke a 122-year-old record for the highest score by a South African batsman on debut, batting at number 9. 8 or lower. This was also the first time in the history of Test cricket that a batsman scored over 80 on his debut at No. 9. For South Africa, he became the first ever cricketer to score a half-century and take four wickets on debut in Test cricket.

Debut fast bowler Corbin Bosch, batting at number nine, scored an attacking 81 not out to give South Africa a 90-run lead on the second day of the first Test against Pakistan at SuperSport Park on Friday.

South Africa were bowled out for 301 while Pakistan scored 211.

South Africa were just two runs ahead when opener Aiden Markram was left eighth man on 89.

But Bosch, who has a first-class batting average of over 40, shared 41st with Kagiso Rabada (13) and 47th with Dane Paterson (12).

Bosch hit 15 fours in a 93-ball innings, improving his first innings bowling figures of four for 63.
