Former Chiefs QB suddenly overtakes MNF

Former Chiefs QB suddenly overtakes MNF

The Kansas City Chiefs have the best NFL record at 11-1 after 13 weeks of football. They have found ways to win close football games, winning 14 straight games with just one possession.

Next up for the Chiefs is an AFC West showdown against the Los Angeles Chargers, but they still have one more game on the schedule in Week 13. The Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns will face off on Monday Night Football. Prior to this contest, a former Chiefs QB was released.

According to the latest transaction report from NFL.com, the Browns have released QB Bailey Zappe ahead of the Week 13 contest.

Zappe joined the Chiefs’ practice squad in late August after being released by the New England Patriots. He spent two seasons with New England but ultimately ended up in Kansas City. Zappe was on Kansas City’s practice squad for two months, but was ultimately signed by the Browns on October 22.

Zappe never played a snap for the Chiefs, but has now been sacked for the second time this season. The 25-year-old started eight career games with a record of 4-4. He has completed 63% of his throws for 2,053 yards with 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

It was a tough ride for Zappe, who was released even though the Browns only have two quarterbacks on the roster, Jameis Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

A reunion with the Chiefs could be in their plans, but Kansas City is rocking Patrick Mahomes and Carson Wentz as their two active QBs on the 53-man roster.
