Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh passed away in New Delhi at 9:51 p.m

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, 92, passed away on Thursday (December 26, 2024).

Earlier in the day, Dr. Singh was admitted to AIIMS Delhi on Thursday evening (December 26, 2024) after his health deteriorated.

AIIMS said in a statement: “It is with deep sadness that we share the demise of former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh at the age of 92. He was treated for age-related illnesses and suddenly lost consciousness at home on December 26, 2024. Resuscitation measures were immediately initiated at home. He was rushed to the emergency medical unit at AIIMS in New Delhi at 8:06 p.m. Despite best efforts, he could not be resuscitated and was pronounced dead at 9:51 p.m.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on his X-page: “India mourns the loss of one of its greatest leaders, Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji.” Coming from a humble background, he developed into a respected economist. He has also served in various government positions, including Finance Minister, and has had a strong influence on our economic policy over the years. His interventions in parliament were also revealing. As our Prime Minister, he made great efforts to improve people’s lives.”
