Four family members, two adults and two children, were found dead in a Milpitas apartment Tuesday in an incident that police described as “isolated.”

Police said officers were dispatched to the Turing Apartments at 1355 McCandless Drive for a welfare check just before 9 p.m. Officers entered the apartment and found a woman, a man and two teenage children “with obvious signs of death.”

Millbrae Police Lt. Tyler Jamison said at a news conference Wednesday afternoon that the family’s welfare check was conducted after other family members reported they had not spoken to their loved ones for several days.

“We don’t know the exact names of the individuals or their relationships, but investigators are still trying to piece together this information,” Jamison said.

All four were pronounced dead at the scene, Jamison said. He did not provide any information about the condition of the bodies and said the cause of death and identity would be announced by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office.

Earlier Wednesday, a police press release said that based on all available information, it appeared to be an isolated incident with no threat to the public.

Jamison said the department expressed condolences to the families of those who died and supported the officers who responded to the scene.

“It is a very difficult incident for everyone, especially the family, and we have expressed our deepest condolences to the family. Officers face these tragic incidents every day and we just want to make sure they are provided with the appropriate information.” “The necessary resources they need to overcome these challenges,” Jamison said.

Jamison said there was no record of previous police calls to the address.

The investigation is ongoing and police said the department will share relevant information as the investigation progresses and this is appropriate.
